Chink & Caulk

Chink and Caulk is used as a sealant between logs and around windows. It should not be used to fill checks in logs as checks are normal and should never be caulked or filled with any other product. Moisture is trapped behind the caulking causing the centre of the log to decay. Because the damage is hidden in the interior of the log it often goes unnoticed until the decay is severe, often resulting in rebuilding or replacing the log.

The interior of this century log home had been whitewashed. After corn blasting to remove the paint, the chink was replaced giving the home a quaint, rustic appearance.
